MY TOP DESTINATION WEDDING LOCATION

As a destination wedding photographer, I get to travel to some pretty amazing places around the world. Hong Kong though has to be one of my all-time favourite places to document a wedding. HK as it is referred to locally really offers every couple planning a destination wedding there some way to make it unique. From stunning city locations to lush green countryside and amazing beaches – Hong Kong has it all. This variety of landscapes can form the perfect backdrop for pre-wedding engagement shoots, elopements or more traditional weddings making it one of my top destination wedding locations in the world.

FINDING THE RIGHT HONG KONG WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER OR VIDEOGRAPHER

As a Destination Wedding Photographer and Videographer, it is my job to help you capture picture-perfect memories that last forever. At the end of the day, your wedding photography or wedding film will last long after your flowers have died and your cake has been eaten. As such, it is so important that you find the right Hong Kong Wedding Photographer or filmmaker to document your day.

One of the most common comments I get from couples planning a wedding in Hong Kong is that they struggle to find a local vendor whose style they like. The trend there is towards very light airy, soft and blown out imagery, but this isn’t for everyone. This can make finding a local Hong Kong wedding photographer or videographer who’s style and aesthetic match what you envision for your day difficult.

WHY CHOOSE HONG KONG FOR A DESTINATION WEDDING

Hong Kong holds a dear place in my heart, it’s easily my favourite place in the world. The feeling of the city and surrounding areas is something very special. It’s a magical place. From the towering sky scrappers to the tiny temples and street food stores which have been there for years. The mix of traditional and modern with it’s blending of east meets west is truly spectacular.

DIVERSITY OF LOCATIONS AND CHOICE

It’s a much more diverse place than many people planning to visit actually realise. Yes, there is the stereotypical view of Hong Kong only being a big city, but there is much more to this location. The collection of Islands that form the Hong Kong Territory are varied. On the one hand, you have Hong Kong Island – the big metropolitan city, with its countless shops, hotels, offices and eateries. In contrast, travelling just 30-45 minutes and you will find stunning mountain ranges, beautiful beaches and nature galore.

A COLOURFUL AND VIBRANT BACKDROP TO YOUR WEDDING DAY

Hong Kong is like a photographers playground. I can’t help but go into full tourist mode whilst there. Photographing everywhere I go, as there is always something to see. Whilst I’ve never really concentrated on street photography it’s hard to resist in this amazing destination. With a wealth of interesting backdrops for your wedding photo or film and a variety of locations to choose from, to me, it is a no-brainer destination wedding location, worthy of consideration.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS IN HONG KONG

Whether you are searching for a Hong Kong pre-wedding photography location or the perfect wedding venue for your day there is a wealth of choices when it comes to finding the perfect location. What many people do not realise is that Hong Kong is more than the city environment people normally associate with the territory.

HONG KONG ISLAND – URBAN

Hong Kong Island is the image and location most people associate with the territory. A busy colourful and vibrant network of streets set against a backdrop of big towering skyscrapers and the famous Peak. The unique blend of western and oriental art and architecture punctuated with busy markets, shops and office blocks. A vibrant city landscape providing a perfect backdrop for interesting and colourful street wedding photography. There are numerous hotels in this area, and it is often a popular choice for wedding receptions.

KOWLOON – URBAN

Directly North from Hong Kong Island crossing the Victoria Harbour lies Kowloon. This location is once again urban but has a far more authentically oriental feel to the place. For those couples wanting portraits with a more authentic feel, this is the place to be. From the high rise housing to the amazing Temple Night market this area really has opportunities galore. Take the Star Ferry over to really make the most of your shoot.

NON-URBAN LOCATIONS

As we’ve discussed people planning a destination wedding are not generally aware that the territory of Hong Kong isn’t all skyscrapers and urban landscapes. A short journey of 30 to 45 minutes from the city locations will lead you to the great outdoors and an abundance of nature parks, beaches, mountains and forests to explore! These can really provide an interesting and contrasting backdrop for your wedding photography to the more commonly used urban backdrops.
