MIKE & ALISON | WEDDING | THE SAMLING HOTEL

Mike & Alison married at The Samling Hotel in Windermere recently in a small intimate wedding with family & friends. I was asked to document their day and it was beautiful!

THE COUPLE

Having met whilst working together, their initial friendship blossomed and they have been together ever since. Living in Knutsford, Cheshire, Mike & Alison had told me The Lake District is one of their favourite places to spend time away from home. They wanted a small and intimate wedding venue in the area to celebrate with close family and friends.

THE WEDDING

As a Lake District Wedding Photographer it was no suprise when I found out they had chosen The Samling Hotel for their celebrations. Given everything we had discussed, it made perfect sense for them to choose this stunning venue overlooking Lake Windermere. It has everything they were looking for. Exclusive-use, fine dining, small and intimate and lastly in the heart of the area they love.

THE PREPERATIONS

The day started off with overcast clouds and heavy rain.  However, as so often happens with the weather in The Lake District; the clouds lifted and left behind a beautiful day.  The morning was all about the girls getting ready together.   Located at the top of the grounds; the Windermere Lodge Suite at The Samling provided a beautiful place to relax, eat and get ready for the day ahead.

THE CEREMONY

As a nervous Mike waited for his bride to be, you couldn’t help but feel the emotion in the room.  Her arrival, as with every wedding I’ve attended saw the tension lift from the groom.  I often think this is the most nerve wracking part of the day for them.  Alison looked stunning, and a small gasp from one of the guests confirmed what everyone was thinking.  How beautiful she looked.

THE RECEPTION

Following the ceremony guests were entertained during a drinks reception by a soulful saxophone player, which allowed me to sneak the couple away for a few intimate wedding portraits before the seven course michlen star meal and evenings festivities began. It is very easy to see why Mike & Alison chose The Samling as their wedding venue. The high standards of service and hospitality made Mike & Alison’s wedding relaxed. This allowed plenty of time for everyone to really enjoy themselves.
